COD Like Geneus
Brine Sturgeon inventor of popular music and flounder member (sic) of the worlds
greatest rock band is often described as a "staggering musician" (1) and puts his
innovatory guitar style
down to "playing a series of notes one after the other
or
sometimes together until you reach
the end of the tune".
These words are taken from Brine Sturgeon's self-penned work "The Universe
and How It Works" This (unsurprisingly) unpublished and indeed unfinished
"official biography" consists almost entirely of a diatribe railing against all
those
who have not recognised his "true genius" or the "seminal contribution"
made
by his band Cod to the history of rock music.
Described by vocalist Bob "Voice of Cod" Marlin (2) as a "psychotic drunk and
fantasist" Sturgeon claims Cod's best work was "lost" eons ago after being
swamped by a giant "new wave" only to be re-discovered and plagiarized by other
massively successful but "less talented artists". He cites "Rubbery Sole"
"Fish You Were Here" and "Anchovy in the UK" as but a few examples
of Cod
music that was stolen and subsequently released with just minor alterations
to the titles.
Too obscure even for cult status, such bizarre claims could be "the product
of a rich interior life" (as his psychiatric report suggests) or genuine (if delusional)
beliefs brought on by Brine's attempts to achieve "Beervana" (3) through the
long-term practice of
accidental medication.Brine's favourite colour is paisley.
